Who can fantom the ways of the Lord? (cf. Isaiah 55:8-9). “The depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God” are beyond our imagination! (Romans 11:33-34). In 1975, God providentially reunited ten scattered immigrant Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine from Vietnam and in 1977 formed the Dominican Sisters of Mary Immaculate Province in Houston, Texas. A decade later the construction of the convent was undertaken along with the current chapel for 60 sisters. The sisters, blessed with a steady gift of vocations, soon outgrew their capacity and needed a larger chapel where all the sisters can participate “fully, actively, and consciously” in liturgical celebrations (Sacrasanctum Concilium, art. 14). God graciously answered their prayers and on the joyous occasion of the feast of the Translation of Holy Father St. Dominic, 24 of May in the Year of Faith 2014, Archbishop Emeritus Joseph A. Fiorenza of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston dedicated the new chapel to Mary, Queen of Preachers.
